Lightwave I - The mech project.
Intro:
The first Lightwave class at the university was an introduction to three dimensional modeling. The focus was put on learning the tools of Lightwave and getting down the basics of model creation. Half way through the semester the final project was started. The requirements for the projects were simple: create a detailed model to be featured in an animation where either the model or the camera moved.
The model I choose to create was inspired by those from the popular game universe known as BattleTech. From various illustrations I created a concept sketch and then modeling began.
My original goal for the animation was to have the model walk and perform other movements. But because of time restraints it was not possible to complete everything.
The final animation took about a week to render and ran just a little over a minute long.
This is also the semester that the Lit Tadpole logo was created. At the bottom you'll see the first edition of the Lit Tadpole.
Below are more images from the animation.
